OK, it's almost February, but to be honest, 2009 has been waaaaay busier than 2008 was--at least so far.
On January 15, I attempted to scale Mt. Washington on the anniversary of my friend, Amy's, near-death auto accident. She invited me to accompany her on her, "screw you death, I win!" attempt and I spent much of the past few months training for the privilege. Long story short, God had other plans so we didn't summit that day, but we did give it a solid try and made it halfway to our goal of the tree line. (It was the coldest day in 25 years and we figured out when we turned around the temperature was around -17 degrees with a wind chill.)
As for other not quite so inspiring or pleasant news....Judy hasn't been well lately. She turned 15 on January 1, and to be honest, she isn't doing too well. She's still eating and her mood is good, but her mobility and enthusiasm is lessoning by the day. I suppose if I was 109 years old, I wouldn't be feeling all that well either. Anyway, I suspect that her days are numbered at this point, and when that day comes, it's going to be a really, really bad day. I know there are tons of you out there who love her almost as much as I do, and I thought you should know.
I'm doing my best to keep her pain at a minimum, and for the most part she seems comfortable, but like I said, we're on a day-to-day situation, and for those of you so inclined, prayers certainly can't hurt.
Right now, she's snoring comfortably beside me and all is well. God bless.
